Overview

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. Its centerpiece is the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. This "Garden of Eden" provides a self-sustaining ecosystem where wildlife and the semi-nomadic Maasai people coexist, offering a breathtaking landscape of highland forests, vast plains, and alkaline lakes.

About the Destination

Formed nearly three million years ago when a giant volcano collapsed, the crater floor spans 260 sq. km and sits 600 meters below the rim. It is home to over 25,000 large mammals, including one of the densest predator populations in Africa. Beyond the crater, the NCA encompasses the Olduvai Gorge—the "Cradle of Mankind" and the shifting volcanic sands, making it as much a prehistoric treasure as it is a wildlife sanctuary.
