About the Destination

Covering 330 sq. km—of which two-thirds is water—Lake Manyara is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. It is world-renowned for its unique lions that spend their afternoons lounging in acacia branches and for harboring one of Africa’s highest concentrations of baboons. The park’s groundwater forest is fed by underground springs from the Rift Valley, supporting an evergreen jungle that contrasts sharply with the nearby dry savannahs of Tarangire.
