Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon your arrival at the airport, a friendly representative from African Spoonbill Tours will be there to greet you and accompany you to your accommodation in Arusha. After your journey, take some time to relax and prepare yourself for the exciting adventure that awaits you! Arusha, a bustling city, serves as a crucial gateway to the safari experiences in northern Tanzania, attracting travelers from all over the world. Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at your accommodation, your knowledgeable African Spoonbill Tours Safari guide will pick you up and drive you to Tarangire National Park. The journey, which takes about two and a half hours on well-maintained tarmac roads, offers scenic views along the way. Tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire River, which sustains the wildlife during the dry season, earning the nickname “river of warthogs.” The park is renowned for its elephant herds and other diverse wildlife, including giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. Keep an eye out for predators like lions and leopards, as well as a wide variety of bird species. Tarangire is also home to ancient and majestic Baobab trees, some believed to have stood for over a millennium. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park and later proceed to your accommodation in Karatu. Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park
After a delicious breakfast, you’ll venture into the cooler regions of Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, there will be a chance to admire the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. From there, your journey continues through Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the iconic Serengeti National Park. Entering from the South, you’ll be immersed in the vast open grasslands that characterize this spectacular park. The Serengeti is famous for its abundant wildlife, including impalas, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hippos. Keep a lookout for predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards as they roam the savannah. Day 4: Serengeti National Park
Today is dedicated to exploring the wonders of the Serengeti on game drives. Day 5: Central Serengeti to Southern Serengeti & Ndutu
After breakfast, you’ll continue your journey through the Serengeti, heading towards Ndutu. On the way, you’ll have the chance to experience more wonders of this magnificent landscape. Ndutu is renowned for its abundant wildlife and serves as a key location for the annual Great Migration. Witness the impressive spectacle of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes as they follow their seasonal patterns in search of fresh grazing. During certain months, particularly February, you can witness the extraordinary sight of over half a million wildebeest calves being born. Witnessing this synchronized birthing event is truly awe-inspiring. Tonight, you’ll stay at a comfortable mid-range seasonal tented camp. Day 6: Ndutu
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before embarking on a full-day game drive in Ndutu. Explore the diverse habitats, including swamps, woodlands, and savannahs, where you’ll encounter vast herds of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes stretching as far as the eye can see. The serene sounds of wildebeests mooing in the distance create a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere. If you visit during February, you might have the chance to witness the incredible spectacle of wildebeest calves being born and taking their first steps, and you may even see them running alongside the herds within just a few days. Day 7: Ndutu to Ngorongoro Crater
Today, you’ll leisurely make your way through Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll have the opportunity to spot various animals along the route, including giraffes gracefully roaming the lush slopes. Arriving at the Ngorongoro Crater, you’ll be greeted by the breathtaking view of this unique and unspoiled wilderness, which includes extensive savannahs, acacia woodlands, and glistening lakes and swamps. The Crater’s formation occurred millions of years ago when a massive volcano collapsed in on itself. Descending into the Crater, you’ll be surrounded by a myriad of wildlife, such as wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and more than 500 bird species. The Crater is also one of the best places to spot the endangered black rhino. After an afternoon game drive, you’ll head to your accommodation in Karatu. Day 8: Lake Manyara to Arusha
On the final day of this incredible safari, you’ll drive to Lake Manyara National Park, a diverse and unique park located 120km west of Arusha. Despite its small size, Lake Manyara is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The park’s landscape includes the impressive Great Rift Escarpment, and the namesake shallow, salt lake is a haven for thousands of wading birds, including flamingos. Keep an eye out for baboons and elephants in the thick evergreen forest, and don’t miss the chance to spot the renowned tree-climbing lions that inhabit the area. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before your game drive concludes. Finally, you’ll be dropped off at your chosen location, whether it’s Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport, bringing an end to your memorable adventure with African Spoonbill Tours !
