Overview

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Rising majestically above the Tanzanian plains, this dormant stratovolcano is a world-class trekking destination. It is unique for its five distinct ecological zones—ranging from tropical rainforest at the base to an arctic wasteland of ice and snow at the summit (Uhuru Peak, 5,895m).

About the Destination

Kilimanjaro is one of the world's most accessible high-altitude summits because it requires no technical climbing skills or mountaineering equipment—it is essentially a very long, very high uphill walk. However, the extreme altitude remains a significant challenge. The mountain features several well-established routes, including the popular Machame (Whiskey) Route, the historic Marangu (Coca-Cola) Route, and the scenic Lemosho Route, each offering different landscapes and acclimatization profiles.
